The age-old tech war has always been Microsoft based PCs against Apple. Generally speaking, you sit on one side of the argument. The same situation has occurred with smartphones, with lines drawn between Google’s Android system, against Apple’s iPhone.

But there are reasons to defect, or even to become completely neutral in the debate.

Why Switch To Mac?

But with so many great features, there are lots of people moving over from PC to Mac. Apple products offer greater security. The built-in antivirus capabilities of the Mac make it much more resilient to attack. The hand-off features on Macs provide a seamless link between smartphone and computer. You know what you’re getting with a Mac. With PCs, any company can make them, and the quality with be vastly different. Apple uses only the highest-end parts in their machines, so you’re not worrying about technology breaking or becoming obsolete quickly. They are very well put together, and as such are very reliable. If you’re switching over from PC to Mac, you’ll probably find a bit of a culture shock. The first thing you’ll notice is how alien everything looks and feels compared with Windows. Everything is in different places, and it will take a bit of getting used to.

The software supplied is different. It is recommended that you have a go at using the Apple equivalents of all you’re favorite apps before dismissing them. Many have great features in their own rights.

You can adapt your Mac to utilize different browsers, rather than the default; Safari. Getting to know the ins-and-outs of how to make the changes to suit you may take time. For example, you’ll need to know how to change default PDF viewer on Mac. You might be used to using Google drive to manage your documents, and you’ll want to set up access to that.

Having Your Cake And Eating It

If you do struggle with any of the Mac software, you can use many of your traditional Windows programs, such as Word, Outlook, and Excel.

While it partly defeats some of the benefits of owning a Mac; you can, however, run Windows or even Linux alongside MacOS, giving you the best of both worlds.

With many great reasons to make the switch to using a Mac, it’s maybe something worth considering, especially if you’ve struggled with reliability issues surrounding Windows.
