Self-care is a word that you are likely to have heard quite a lot of late. But what does it mean? Does it have to cost a lot? Self-care doesn’t have to take a whole lot of time. In fact, sometimes it is the quick things and the small and simple things that happen on a regular basis, that will help to keep us recharged. And with the busy lives that we lead, having some time to take for ourselves really is important. But when money is limited, it can feel like you have to spend a lot on self-care or on taking care of yourself. The good news is that there are plenty of things that you can do that aren’t going to cost a whole lot of money, if anything at all. Which are you going to try first?


Introduce Mindfulness Into Your Daily Life

Mindfulness is something that helps to provide opportunities for our bodies to be able to recharge our mental, emotional and physical ‘batteries,’ which is especially helpful if we are feeling a little exhausted by life. You can practice mindfulness by the traditional practice of just noticing your breathing, with the feel of it, the temperature of your breath, and the sound that is made. Then as you focus on your breathing, you will be able to forget about other distractions and it can be a great way to clear your mind, and it costs absolutely nothing to do. You can do it through all different things in your day, such as when you’re doing the dishes, walking to work, or eating breakfast, for example. Bring it into your life and it will make a difference.


Listen To Your Body

If you are feeling unwell, stressed, or not feeling like your health is not in the best shape, then it is a good idea to listen to your body and then you can better know what to do. If you are constantly feeling exhausted, then could it simply be because you need to eat more whole foods, rather than processed foods or sugar laden foods? If you have trouble with your sight or your hearing, then making sure that you have them checked regularly is a really good idea, as well as checking on things like your hearing aid batteries if that is something that you already use. When things are dealt with in enough time, and you have the right health insurance in place, then it can be a massive help and keep costs pretty low too.


Use Apps

There is a saying that ‘there is an app for that’ for pretty much everything, and it is true when it comes to health and self-care. Whatever you are looking to monitor or do, there will be apps to help, with most being completely free. It is such an important thing to look at, as having them right there on your phone can be very helpful. They can give you reminders too, helping you to make these changes into your life.
